Investing While Active Duty Military

Investing while active duty military can be very tricky, but not impossible. A few things I did to make it happen:

1. Maximize offline time. I did (and still do) most of my homework while the market is closed.

2. Model trades on a computer, place on the phone. I didn’t have WiFi at work, and most spots didn’t have cell service. By knowing what trades I was looking for and at what prices, I could launch them from my phone where I had service without a problem.

3. Don’t make excuses. It’s easy to dismiss trading while active duty with deployments, field exercises, rifle ranges, etc. There’s always a really great excuse waiting to be used. Don’t use them. Modify your approach and refuse the easy way. Buy and hold is ALWAYS an option.
